One of the biggest keys to a successful business is the generation of new leads. A lead is a person that has shown some interest in the services or products that you provide. It can also be a company or person who fits a target group for what you are providing. Without leads, you cannot be successful. Therefore, generating good leads is just as important as closing the sale.

By now you might be asking: “How do I generate the right leads?” Years ago, leads were developed by meeting people, cold calling, and purchased lists. As seasoned salespeople know, purely cold calling and meeting people was a flawed process. You could generate leads, but the volume of effective leads would not be substantial. Thanks to advances in technology, this is no longer case. In the last 10-15 years advances in technology have made it extremely easy to target and acquire ideal leads.
Social media and search engines have greatly simplified the process of generating leads. It literally takes a matter of seconds to find a multitude of people who fit the criteria for a potential sale. It’s now possible to generate an extremely high volume of leads in a short period of time. The more leads you get, the more you’re ultimately going to close.

The internet has fundamentally changed how we do business. There’s a much bigger chance to get leads online,  with the rise in mobile devices, consumers are much more likely to use mobile internet to search for products. Nevertheless, this also has presented us with new marketing challenges: How to organize all the data? How to measure which campaigns work best? Which leads are genuinely interested? Luckily for online marketers, there are now plenty of automated lead generation tools that can make one’s life much easier.

Although paid traffic is essentially the fastest  means of obtaining leads, there is nothing better than good old fashioned referral traffic or organic traffic. Organic traffic is FREE traffic sent to your site through search engines such as Google or Bing because they like the content on your site. Referral traffic is just that, someone has referred your site because of of the quality and value that it has to offer .
