Possibly one of the biggest obstacles to overcome as a business owner is how to overcome the fear of rejection. And I’m not just talking about the thousands of “NO’s” you will hear from prospecting. There is also the rejection from our friends and family members and even co workers. This is the one fear that has ruined so more dreams and goals than anything else.
Most people believe that rejection is a reflection of themselves and take it very personally. How many times have you fallen prey to this belief?
How many times have we heard “this will never work” “Why are you doing this?” “Internet Marketing? Are you serious” and that’s just for starters
There must be a way to cut through all the negativity and continue to move forward, to find the strength to push on through it all.
Bo Bennett once said that “A rejection is nothing more than a necessary step in the pursuit of success”
Its completely understandable that no one likes to be rejected. But let’s face it , we live in a very over sensitive society that tends to get offended at so many different things, but truly at the heart of it is rejection. We all this innate desire to be accepted by those around us, loved ones, colleagues, girlfriends, boyfriends, classmates, workmates and sometimes even complete strangers.
We have a tendency to take it very personal when someone rejects an idea that we are excited about.
Somehow we feel that it is a reflection as us as a person if they don’t feel the same way that we do.
Allow me to give you an example. Lets say you are a server at a restaurant.
You ask the patron if he would like some desert (we hear that one all the time).
They say no.
A. go to the cooler and shut the door and cry your eyes out, and feel ashamed of yourself?
or do you:
B. Think very little or nothing at all about it and continue with your work?
Obviously you answered B, if you answered A, you need to find a blog about psychological matters! (And a new profession)
You move on with your work and you don’t take it personally.
It’s not so much the fact that they don’t like desert or you, it’s simply that desert wasn’t right for them at this very minute (if they don’t like desert, you can give them the link to the blog about psychological matters)
The attitude you had about this is exactly the same attitude you need to have in your business, Even if someone tells you NO , you need to have a good enough foundation to have it not sway you one way or another. You may get 100 no’s before you get a single yes. If you want to be considered a leader you must learn how not to be swayed in your emotional response
You are not going to get everybody to accept everything you do, but you must learn how to regulate yourself against the negativity others throw your way.
If you wish to win at the game, then you must master your mind from allowing rejection to take precedence.
You’ll eventually stop caring what others think about you.
Rejection is an illusion, a trick, if you will, to get you to doubt yourself and your ability to finish what it is you set out to do
The sooner you realize this and stop making rejection so personal, the sooner you begin to transform yourself and completely change the dynamics of your business
Rejection not only holds people back from selling, and creating videos.
It also stops or hinders them from sharing their business with someone and even from getting close to loved ones.
Isn’t it time to break the cycle and start pursuing your dreams without the fear of rejection? That doesn’t mean rejection isn’t going to come your way, it simply means that you have a different view or a different reaction to it and it cant affect you.
Remember “Rejection doesn’t mean you aren’t good enough, It simply means the other person failed to see what you have to offer”
